About the Authors

John P. Hamilton is an educator, consultant, and trainer in the area
of change in education and organizations. His tenure in Education
and Organizational Development is a combined total of ten years. In
the efforts to compliment his practice with theory, Dr. Hamilton earned
his Doctoral degree in Education (Organizational Leadership) from
the University of La Verne, Masters of Education from Loyola Marymount
University, and his Bachelors in Sociology from San Diego State University.
He prides himself in knowing that everyone has the propensity for
change with guidance and nurturing. In addition, Dr. Hamilton has
a strong desire to assist African American students to excel in and
outside of the classroom. He pays particular attention to African
American males, in the efforts to dispel the myths and deficit perspective
attitudes within and beyond the walls of education. For more information

Larry D. Brown, Jr. is a consultant, trainer, and advocate in the areas of leadership development, cultural diversity, and urban affairs. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies (concentration in sociology and psychology), with a minor in Social Work from San Diego State University, and a Master in Public Administration with a concentration in Urban Affairs from California State University, Long Beach with future aspirations of pursuing a doctorate.
As a native of South Los Angeles (Watts), Larry has dedicated himself to assist in eradicating the problems that plague underrepresented communities by bridging the gaps, utilizing education and life experiences as a tool to combat inequality and adversity. Specifically, he is committed to working with African American males in ALL areas to help them achieve their maximum potential. Larry currently resides in Houston, Texas, expanding services to reach that community.
